Bennachie
One of Aberdeenshires most prominent hill ranges. The stand out peak being Mither Tap, at 518m it is not very high but with the surrounding area being quite flat, it stands out across the landscape. It is easy to understand why there is an Iron Age fort at the top, with evidence to state the fort dates back to the Bronze Age. The hill is full of history, from the Iron Age hill fort, to the old dwellings of the “Colinists” and their activities on the hill.
A hill full of history and nature and only 45 minutes drive from Aberdeen. There is an excellent visitor centre which Garry (owner of Hillgoers) is a volunteer trustee for the Bennachie Centre Trust (SCIO).
